How to Play

Objective of Contest: The objective is to choose four golfers who will finish in the top 20 for each major golf tournament of 2008. You must select four (4) golfers for each tournament out of a pool of golfers, which will include every player competing.

Making Picks: In the days before each tournament, the full field of golfers will be divided into four groups (Flights) based on the players' world rankings. You can choose your team of four players from any flight. For instance, you could select four first-flight players, four fourth-flight players, or a player from each flight. You will be able to make and change your selections up to 11:59 PM (ET) the day prior to the tournament's first scheduled tee time. After that time, your selections will be locked and cannot be changed.

Tiebreaker: You must also enter a prediction for the winning golfer's regulation stroke count, which will be used as a tiebreaker. Once you have picked a tiebreaker, you must click on Save to submit the completed entry.

Scoring: Contestants will be awarded points for each golfer they choose who finishes in the top 20. Prior to each Tournament, the golfers will be assigned to a flight based on World Ranking. Each finishing position in the top 20 will have an assigned point value (see below). If a selected player finishes in the top 20, he will get the points assigned to his place, which will then be multiplied by the player's flight number. Contestants' total scores will be the sum of their four players' points.

For the Masters, first place is worth 200 points, second 190 points, third 180 points, and so on, with the 20th position worth 10 points. So, a first-flight player who finishes first will be awarded 200 points; a fourth-flight player who finishes first will be awarded 800 points (200 for first x 4 for the flight). If Tiger Woods wins, his 200 points would be lower than a fourth-flight player who finishes 15th (240 points). So, those longshot picks can really boost your score.

Golfers who are tied will receive the full point total for their position. In other words, if three players finish tied for second, each golfer will receive 190 points, which would then be multiplied by the flight number. No points will be awarded if a Tournament is postponed or cancelled, if a chosen golfer finishes below 20th place, or if a chosen golfer could not participate in the Tournament for any reason.

4th 170 340 510 680
5th 160 320 480 640
6th 150 300 450 600
7th 140 280 420 560

18th 30 60 90 120
19th 20 40 60 80
20th 10 20 30 40

Another Example: You have chosen one golfer from each of the four flights. Your first flight player finishes third for 180 points (180x1); your second flight player finishes 21st for 0 points (0x2); your third flight player finishes 17th for 120 points (40x3); and your fourth flight player finishes 5th for 640 points (160x4). Your team's total score for the tournament would be 940 points (180 + 0 + 120 + 640).
